Shadow Work

A 1-on-1 consultation exploring your shadow side through art

Class Description

What is our Shadow Side? According to Jude Paler, author from Hack Spirit, “in the field of psychology, a shadow is a term used to refer to the parts within us that we may try to hide or deny. The name was originally coined and explored by Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Carl Jung. It comprises the aspects of our personality that we tend to deem shameful, unacceptable, ugly. It can be envy, jealousy, rage, lust, desire for power or the wounds incurred in childhood – all of those we keep hidden.” How can we address our Shadow Side? *Identify the shadow *Investigate with compassion *Explore through art and journaling What can I expect throughout this process? Expect a journey. Discovering and addressing your shadow side isn’t accomplished in one day. It can and will be overwhelming at times as you start to discover your hidden emotions and subconscious feelings. But remember: your soul has the inherent willingness to be healed and discovered. When you are ready to face your shadow side and do the work, give yourself permission to ‘dive in’ and see what’s hidden. Be open and willing to learn. Understand that your shadow side is not a negative aspect of yourself; it is an important part of who you are. When we uncover our own toxic traits it can sometimes lead to self deprecation, so allow compassion and forgiveness towards yourself. You are healing and it is a process!
